Lloyd formed production company Red-Roar Films in 1988 born from his passion to tell stories which are rarely seen or heard on mainstream platforms. It was created principally to train and develop the skills of the unemployed and minority groups interested in a career in the film and television industry. It was supported by Arts Council and Local Authority funding, private foundations and sponsorship.

Red-Roar Films is very active today producing original dramas, comedies and documentaries. They have been involved recently in shooting and editing the John Robb interviews (with guests such as Shaun Ryder) and with rock bands such as ‘Honeyfeet’.

The extensive Red-Roar Films archive has been used in many television documentaries, such as ‘Rik Mayall - Lord of Misrule’ (2014) and ‘How The Young Ones Changed Comedy’ (2018). Part of the archive was broadcast again in 2024 as part of a documentary featuring ‘Bottom’ (Crook Studios for Channel 5)

Lloyd has written, produced and directed many large-scale films featuring actors such as Rik Mayall, Tom Watt, Ken Morley and Fiona Allen. The films have been screened on television, at the Brixton Ritzy, Leeds Playhouse, Bradford Museum of Film and TV, The Odeon, Showcase and Cornerhouse Cinemas in Manchester.
